Samy Nour Younes Figaredo (he/him, they/them) is a proud multi-hyphenate with a name longer than he is tall. He's been credited under various iterations of his full name, but as long as you remember the Samy part, you'll be fine.Samy is an actor, print model, consultant, and community organizer of over a decade. He recently narrated the audiobook for the Lambda Literary award-winning novel The 30 Names of Night. Other recent appearances include Parrots at the Pagoda (Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater), Chonburi International Hotel & Butterfly Club (Williamstown Theatre Festival & Audible), Well-Intentioned White People (Barrington Stage Company), and Into the Woods (Ford’s Theatre). As a commercial and print model, he has participated in campaigns for CitiBank, Gilead Sciences, and JUST Water. His latest on-screen appearance was in season 3 of the HBO Max series The Other Two (2023).In the past, Samy has co-organized rallies, events, and panels that promote LGBTQ+ outreach and support. His most visible contribution to trans advocacy is his TED Talk on Trans History 101, with almost 2 million views. As a consultant, trainer, and facilitator, he focuses on issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community. Past partnerships include LinkedIn, Ancestry.com, Harry's, the Hetrick-Martin Institute, and Squarespace. He's also a script consultant on two feature-length films, both released in 2022.Originally from Prince George's County, MD, Samy now lives in New York with his husband, Eddie González-Novoa; and their two cats, Totoro and Jelly Bean.
